Proclaiming Christ Yesterday, Today, and Forever by Volunteering 150,000 Hours!
As part of the 150 th anniversary of the Diocese of Peoria, we invite our parishioners to volunteer!
We are setting the goal at over 150,000 hours to honor and serve our Catholic faith! It’s an excellent way of imitating Jesus by serving our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. When we serve others, we are also serving our Lord.
The volunteer directory linked on this page lists many places to serve. Please contact the organization(s) ahead of time to arrange for your service hours. We also encourage you to contact your parish to help your faith community. They are always looking for volunteers! And consider “Hidden Charities”, non-profits that we don’t even know about, in addition to the great places listed in this volunteer directory.
Some other examples of serving include:
Confirmation service hours
High school service hours
Volunteering at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Sophia’s Kitchen, and Catholic Charities
Helping your neighbors in need
Family time serving the many ministries at your parish
Serving the many non-profits in the Diocese of Peoria
We would love to track all the hours you, your family, or your organization are serving. Please email your service hours, and where you served, to Claire Crone at serving150@cdop.org. We will be posting our progress here on the website.
In order to reach our goal of over 150,000 hours of volunteering, we would like to suggest that your parish, school, family, religious order, staff, group of people you volunteer with, group of volunteers you coordinate, etc., choose a person to email your service hours each month to Claire in order to let us know how you have imitated Jesus in your volunteering! Please include names, what was done during the service hours, the number of hours served, where the service was done, and inspirational stories from your volunteering.
Thank you for volunteering and serving our Lord by helping our brothers and sisters in Christ.
